From weight loss and improved digestion to balancing hormones and deep detoxification, the benefits of a chlorella cleanse are just too good to ignore. If you’d like to do your own chlorella detox but have no idea where to start, have no fear. Our chlorella crash course will tell you all need to know about getting the very best out of these powerful little green algae!

What Are the Benefits of Chlorella?

Chlorella is a single-celled type of micro-algae that grows in fresh water and has been used since ancient times for its nutritional and medicinal properties. Chlorella is full of many nutrients such as vitamins A,C and E, all of the B vitamins, a complete set of essential amino acids as well as iron, magnesium and amazingly high amounts of quality protein.

Why Do a Chlorella Detox?

Aside from its truly impressive range of nutrients, chlorella is also a very effective cleanser. Large amounts of heavy metals in sources like drinking water, improperly farmed foods, cosmetics and even certain kinds of dental fillings can all lead to dangerous levels of mercury, cadmium, lead and other toxins soaking deep into your body’s cells. The effects of this include symptoms like fatigue, indigestion, bloating, skin issues, body aches, depression and anxiety.

A chlorella detox is an excellent way to flush out these toxins and improve your well-being because chlorella attaches to toxins and pulls them out of your body. Chlorella also contains antioxidant as well as chlorophyll that can help during detoxification by making sure that all of your body’s tissues are protected from toxic damage.

6 simple steps for an effective chlorella detox:

1. Prepare Your Body

Get your body ready by eating fresh cilantro and up to 3 cloves of raw garlic for a few days before you start your cleanse. Cilantro and garlic can help to support detoxification and you can continue to eat them after cleansing as well, for long-term benefits.

2. Start off Slow

Chlorella can be hard to digest so remember to add it in to your diet gradually. For the first 14 days, start with only ¼ teaspoon (500 mgs) of chlorella per day and work your way up to 1 tsp (3-4 grams). If you feel any pain or discomfort when you start taking the higher doses, lower the amount back to a dose your body can handle.

3. Sweeten the Deal

If you find it hard to get used to chlorella’s taste or scent at first, try blending your dose into a delicious smoothie or juice. This also makes the chlorella easier to digest.

4. Support Your Cleanse

Make sure you help your body continue to get rid of toxins by eating a clean diet during the next 14 day stage of your detox. Stay away from grains, dairy and sugar and choose only organic fruits and vegetables, wild-caught fish and grass-fed meats. You can also use an infrared sauna a couple of times a week, to draw out toxins.

5. Stay Hydrated

Not drinking enough water can lower the power of your chlorella detox by keeping toxins locked inside your body. Make sure you get at least 2 liters a day of pure water to flush out heavy metals and chemicals.

6. Keep up the Good Work

Even after your detox is over, you can keep taking ¼ teaspoon of chlorella daily, adding more fruits and vegetables to your normal diet and drinking plenty of water, to keep all of the many health benefits of your cleanse.

A chlorella detox can leave you feeling and looking fitter, better and more balanced. The best part is that taken in the right doses, chlorella is a natural and safe substancesthat you can use regularly, allowing you to enjoy your amazing results long-term.
