You’re out one night with some friends and have a beer or two. You’ve had a long week at work, so it’s okay to indulge tonight. Two beers turn into three or four. You and your friends are having a great time sharing laughs, jokes, and reminisicing. The night carries on and you decide to “kick it up a notch” and have a few more drinks. This cannot hurt, right? After all, it’s well deserved indulgence after a long week at work, isn’t it? WRONG.

The next morning you feel like death has come knocking on your door. Your body is aching, you have the worst headache imaginable, your stomach is uneasy, and this unexplainable groggy feeling will not leave. You ask yourself, “Why did I do this to myself? Gosh, WHY did I do this?!” It’s a hangover.

You could reach for medicine cabinet and go for some type of over-the-counter relief – but did you know that there are ways you can kick your hangover good-bye without the use of medication? No, I’m not kidding, natural hangover remedies exist and are effective. Let’s discover more:

It’s Raining H20

The best thing you can do to combat a hangover is to prevent it. This starts with hydration. It’s always important to stay hydrated throughout the day, whether you plan on drinking alcohol or not. But this is especially important when you are drinking alcohol. One of the main causes of that hangover feeling is because we are dehydrated.

PRO Hangover Tip: Drink a large glass of water before going out for the evening. Continue to drink a glass of water after every alcoholic beverage you consume.

Orange You Glad You’re Getting This Tip

Vitamin C is going to become your best friend. In this orange vitamin, there is a substance called glutathione. The more glutathione in your body means less toxicity in your liver. This will decrease the likelihood of a bad hangover and will also prevent some of the damage that alcohol has on your body.

PRO Hangover Tip: Consume 500mg of Vitamin C before heading out for the evening and once you get home from your night out. I personally enjoy effervescent Vitamin C in a glass of water.

Nutrition Always Counts

A common way to prevent a hangover is to make sure that you eat something before a night of drinking. When you drink alcohol, your blood sugar will drop significantly. This leads to those dreaded hangover symptoms like headaches, feeling nauseous, and lightheadedness.

PRO Hangover Tip: Load up on foods that was stabilize your blood sugar, like healthy proteins, vegetables, coconut oil, and butter.

Quick Tips and Tricks for Hangover Remedies

Even though you will probably want to go to sleep as soon as you get home, you can do a few more things to prevent a full-fledged hangover:

Coconut Charcoal

Coconut charcoal is very absorbent and has the capability to remove toxins from your body. Accordingly, consuming coconut charcoal will remove toxins from alcohol in your body and make you feel like a rockstar in the morning after a night out.

Lemon Water

Lemons can be purchased at any grocery store, making them a convenient way to combat a hangover. Lemons help our bodies become more alkalinzed and less acidic. Alkalinity helps eliminate the common hangover symtoms like headaches and grogginess. Squeeze a whole fresh lemon into water, or buy a PH balancing powder to help alkalnize your body after a night out.

PRO Hangover TIP: Keep hangover cures handy in the medicine cabinet.
